Cosmic journey and lush soundscapes meet psychedelic bass: Rhizomorphic – The Ride (2025)

Rhizomorphic is no stranger to the PsyBass community, consistently delivering fantastic music. Ranging from PsyDub, PsyBass, Trip-Hop and PsyDnB,The Ridealbum covers a wide emotional spectrum, and I highly recommend listening to it from start to finish to experience the full journey.

The album cover depicts a lemur riding a bicycle through a dark yet colorful forest, which perfectly captures the vibe of the album: traveling through different textures, colors, emotions and speeds, all combined into a marvelous ride.

When Technical Precision Meets Soul

This album has it all in my opinion; technical precision, a clean and punchy low end, psychedelic phrases, soul-melting chord progressions and melodies, and superb arrangement in every track. This combination allows the listener to experience a wide range of emotions. Even when some parts are very busy, every sound remains clearly distinguishable, showcasing Rhizomorphic s superb mixing skills and clever choice of elements that fit together perfectly.

There is not a single track I felt like skipping, and that says a lot.

Deeper dive

What does Rhizomorphic aim to deliver in this album? My guess is an experience: placing the listener in an (altered) state of mind where, for a while, nothing else matters. It allows them to disconnect and experience the beautiful elements of nature such as landscapes, colors, and serenity.

The energy curve of the album is quite interesting. It begins with a strong rise in energy in the opening track, “Color Incline,” and then continues with an interplay between darkness and light, though overall the tone remains on the brighter side.

This is followed by a sharp drop in energy and mood in the final track, “Back Home.” This perfectly aligns with the slightly melancholic feeling we often have when a journey (or a trip) ends and we must return to reality and reflect on the ride.

A summary of Rhizomorphic The Ride

The Ride is a beautifully produced PsyBass album that blends technical precision with emotional depth. It takes the listener on a psychedelic journey through rich textures, powerful bass and soulful melodies; it s best experienced from start to finish. Go listen to it now and thank me later! 😉
