Mattura’s latest release, Paradigm Shift, from Mystic Sound Records delivers a solid 7-track journey through psychedelic downtempo territory. Mattura – the project of Matt Kleopas – blends psybass, psydub, and organic ethnic elements and creates a soothing yet intriguing atmosphere that feels like a gentle shift in consciousness. It was released April 8, 2026.
Paradigm Shift – Tracks To Keep You Going
The album opens strong with “Back Into Orbit”, a rousing track rooted in deep psybass and psydub vibes. It slowly evolves from its initial crawl into a rich variety of organic and electronic sounds that soothe the mind and body.
“Essentia Pura” follows with beautiful hang drum tones that immediately draw you in. Built on a psystep foundation, it layers on sweet psybass lines where every element feels carefully and precisely placed. The result is a soft, introspective experience as organic instruments meld with electronic textures, inviting deep reflection.
“Cactus Flower” brings a light psydub influence with a subtle Middle Eastern flavor, adding a touch of mystery and intrigue. Gentle male vocals weave through ethnic instrumentation, guiding the listener toward funky bass lines and fun ethnic sounds that keep things engaging.
Then, things pick up energy on “Temple of Frequencies”, which starts as an up-tempo psybass track before teasing a drop infused with drum & bass flair. Multiple organic Middle Eastern instruments add depth and texture, making the track feel vibrant and alive.
Further in, “Mirage” continues the foreign thread with piano melodies and more pronounced Middle Eastern influences, creating a dreamy, almost illusory atmosphere.
“Elven Dub” stands out for its nice, memorable melody paired with solid psybass work, while “Feather” keeps the momentum going with more of those signature rolling elements. It closes the album out with some more sweet psychedelic basslines.

Impression
Overall, Paradigm Shift is a solid and consistently entertaining album. It sprinkles in ethnic flavors throughout without feeling forced, and the blend of organic instruments with electronic production gives it a warm, grounded psychedelic vibe. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s well-crafted, and easy to get lost in and perfect for chill sessions or deeper listening. All in all, it is a solid journey.
Rating – Paradigm Shift
My rating: 6/10 Solid effort that delivers enjoyable psybass/psydub with nice world-music touches, but it doesn’t quite reach the level of a must-listen classic. Still worth checking out if you’re into Mystic Sound’s signature sound.

I like electronic music. My main favorite is Psychill/Psybient and Psybass. But I also really love Goa trance (especially the old school), Psytrance, Ambient, Drum & Bass/classic Jungle, House, Trance etc... I got into electronic music as a teenager first hearing Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim and Prodigy on the radio, and it slowly went from there. I thought, "Wow you can make sounds in electronic music that organic music instruments could never do."
