Zymosis – Memento (2024): A Psychedelic Journey of Glitchy Breaks and Dreamlike Soundscapes
Zymosis is a psychedelic music project from Ukraine that’s been shaping the psy-electronic scene for over two decades. They've built a strong name for themselves by blending psytrance, ambient, and downtempo into something that feels both deep and otherworldly. Their music has always been about expanding consciousness and taking listeners on a real journey. Albums like Between Two Points (2012) and Insight (2017) are already classics—and now they've added Memento (2024) to that list.Their latest release is honestly stunning. Memento is full of glitched-out breaks, emotional instrumentals, dreamy vocal touches, arpeggios, and some of the most hypnotic basslines I’ve heard in a while. The whole thing stirs up a ton of feelings—nostalgia, introspection, but also hope and momentum. One moment you're wrapped up in a delicate piano or violin line, and the next it glitches into these layered rhythms that just carry you away. The percussion is especially satisfying—detailed and twisted in the best way—and the melodies are both intricate and emotionally rich. It all comes together so smoothly that it feels like you’re being pulled into this mysterious, energetic space where everything just flows. What I love most is how the album manages to be both dark and hopeful, chill and energizing at the same time. It never feels scattered either—there’s so much variety in sound, but the whole thing stays super cohesive. For me, it’s a complete experience. Easy 10/10.
